Welcome to our online ‘service’. We trust that this service will build you up in the faith and stir up in you true worship of our God.

Before you begin, take a moment, as our custom is, to join us in the following pre-service prayer meeting.

  • Consider two attributes of God and worship Him for being so
  • Confess all known sins to the Lord and ask for His forgiveness
  • Thank the Lord for salvation, church, and this online opportunity for worship
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to prepare your heart for worship with the saints
  • Intercede for one another to all be able to set aside some time for worship on this day

Join in singing with us a great historical confession of faith that countless worshippers in years gone by have confessed as their own.

Pray with us,

“Our Lord and our God, it is with grateful joy that we confess our faith in You and in all that You have done for us. Accept our worship for Jesus’s sake, Amen.”

  1. Our lockdown ministry has been formalised for the foreseeable future and is explained here: Lockdown Ministry
  2. All regular giving can be done through direct deposit or EFT using the bank details at the bottom of the page. For lockdown aid to others, please use the reference “lockdown”.
  3. If there are pressing financial needs, please let one of the elders know so we can be aware of all the needs and determine how best to meet them.
  4. Know that the Lord is always with us and that the love that we have for one another only increases as we long for gathering with one another one day again.

Pray with us:

Our heavenly Father, we can indeed echo the prayer of the prophet Moses that You have been the place of refuge for believers in all generation (Ps 90:1). From before Creation until long after our time here on earth, You are God (Ps 90:2-4). You rule over all the temporary realities of this world (Ps 90:5-6) and because of our sin we truly cannot stand before You (Ps 90:7-9). Even to our old age we still cannot fathom Your power, so teach us day-by-day your wisdom (Ps 90:10-12). Show us your mercy (Ps 90:13). Make us rejoice again in Your love (Ps 90:14). Show us Your providential care (Ps 90:15-16). As we commit to be faithful day-by-day, will You be the one who blesses our work (Ps 90:17).

Thank you for the work of ministry that you have called us to. Thank you for the ways in which we can build one another up in the faith in spite of our current circumstances. Thank you that You will never leave or forsake us. Thank you that You know the end of lockdown before it even began. We might not know all things, but we know You Who knows all things. We might not understand all things, but we have come to understand that Your ways are always best and that You work all things for our good. What joy and comfort that gives us! What zeal it inspires in us to wake each morning and live each day for You!

Please Lord, take care of those in our congregation who are struggling with the trials of this life. Strengthen us for our daily tasks. Provide for us in our daily needs. Equip us for every good work. Forgive our sins. Confirm our faith.

Please also be with our missionaries in Papua New Guinea, Port Elizabeth, and Ecuador. Bless their labours in Your Kingdom.

Lord, we are mindful of the chaotic effects of sin in this world. We acknowledge that without You we can do nothing good. But, with confidence in You and Your Word we know that we need not fear anything that is frightening, for our trust is in You (Ps 56).

“Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all.” (1 Chron 29:11), Amen

Open your Bibles and read Proverbs 6:6-19 out loud so you can simultaneously read, speak, and hear the Word of God.

Then pray with us:

Lord, You have given us much to be busy with here on earth. Keep us from the worldly attitudes which we witness each day in society. Forgive us where we waste our time and efforts on things that do not profit. Thank you for rest and relaxation, but keep us from laziness. Help us, like the ant, to work with excellence knowing that You are watching. Keep us from all forms of deception and dishonesty. Protect us from desiring success at the cost of faithfulness to You. Make us peace-makers in our circles of influence. May we hate what You hate and love what You love. Whether then we eat or drink, or whatever we do, may we do all for Your glory, (1 Cor 10:31) Amen.

Please join us in song as we praise our Lord and remind each other of what we believe.

Pray with us as we transition to the preaching of God’s Word:

It is good for us to sing your praises, Lord, to exalt in Your work on the cross, and to testify to your blessings to our soul. Teach us now also through the preaching of Your Word. Amen

Listen to the sermon live at 9:30 AM using this link: https://meet.google.com/igc-wtxk-bkm. If you are unable to join us live, the sermon link below contains the sermon notes in reading format. The audio will be added after the live recording.

1 Thessalonians 4:9-12 “God’s Ethics for Your Work” by Andrew Zekveld

It is our privilege to respond to what we learned from God in a song of dedication to Him. Join us as we sing.

May the favour of the LORD our God be upon us,
may He establish the works of our hands

(adapted from Psalm 90:17)
