PRE-SERVICE PRAYER MEETING
Take a moment and,
- thank the Lord for this opportunity for worshipping Him and ask that He would work in the hearts of the saints not to neglect the fellowship of the saints in the ways that are possible,
- pray especially for those who are alone and not actively engaged with one another today or throughout the week,
- praise the Lord for His unchanging faithfulness throughout our changing circumstances, and
- plead with the Lord for services to be able to resume soon.
Welcome to Living Hope Baptist Church! This is not a true Church service, but it does not restrain us too much as we can still worship the Lord through prayer, song, Scripture reading, preaching, and our love for one another. Work through this service guide, one element of worship at a time, knowing that many other saints are doing the same.
Our hope is not in this world, but in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Pray with us,
Our Lord and our God, You are worthy of all worship. Thank you for saving us. We long to be with one another, but praise you for the fellowship that we can have with You and with Your Son Jesus Christ, Amen.
- Our services and gatherings remain cancelled until further notice. Pray for all making decisions that affect us and our country, and trust in God’s everywhere-present sovereignty.
- Please be in continued prayer for one another, especially those with health difficulties.
Our Father in heaven, there are no words profound enough to express Your goodness. We know that everything bad in this world is because of the curse of the sin of mankind, but that everything good in this life is a direct expression from You of Your innate goodness (Jam 1:17). From the very beginning of Creation, Your work was “very good” (Gen 1-2). Throughout the many generations of mankind, your goodness has been demonstrated through daily providential mercies to both the just and the unjust (Matt 5:45). On top of that you are “a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin” (Ex 34:6-7). There is not even a potential of any evil in You (Jam 1:13); You never get some pleasure from evil (Ps 5:4); evil may not even show its face before You (Ps 5:4b). You are so overwhelmingly good, that not only does only good come from You, but even bad things need to submit their evil intentions to Your goodness, and instead become occasions for true worship (Job 1-2, Rom ). You are good, and You do good, teach us Your firmly established, unchanging, clearly-revealed ways (Ps 119:68).
Lord we are not that good. Our world is not that good. Here on earth things go bad, and sometimes things go from bad to worse. Two months ago we had no real indicators that our lives would change so suddenly and for so long. This world, Lord, is in desperate need of Your goodness. Open our minds to the wisdom and insight into this world, so clearly revealed in Scripture, that we will recognise the million expressions of Your goodness that are put on display even more now than before the COVID-19 era of our lives began. Make us loudspeakers to Your goodness. Be it to our own souls, to our loved ones, to our enemies, to our neighbours, wherever we might find opportunity, make us witnesses to the true God, a God so few know. Lord, please save many, not only from their earthly troubles, but also from their sinfulness and eternal troubles. Please also allow us to meet together again soon—not our will, but Your will be done.
You are our Lord and our God, we have no good apart from you (Ps 16:2). Accept our worship, for Jesus’ sake, Amen.
SCRIPTURE READING AND PRAYER
Open your Bibles and read Psalm 5 out loud.
Pray with us,
Hear our prayers O LORD (1), give attention to our pleas, for You are our King and our God (2). When we pray in the morning, read Your Word and our daily devotional, we know that You are with us (3). Thank you for being a God who loves good and hates evil (4-5). We trust You for avenging all wrongdoing (6).
What an amazing reality it is for us to be the recipients of your steadfast love, to worship You and know You (7). Lead us in Your righteousness no matter how much evil everyone else seem to follow (8). God, You will take care of all those who are corrupt and deceitful and dishonest (9-10). You are also, O LORD, the One who takes care of Your own Who love You (11-12). You make us rejoice always, You protect us, You bless us, You cover us with Your goodness (11-12). Hear therefore our prayers for help (1-2); be glorified by our exultation in You (11).
Please join us in song and set your mind on things above (Col 3:2)
Pray with us as we transition to the preaching of God’s Word:
Our Lord and God, we rightfully sing about the day that we will arrive in Heaven. It is good for us to contemplate in song the work of your Son on our behalf before Your throne. We take comfort from our Saviour’s ever-present help. Teach us Your ways, for Jesus’ sake, Amen.

“Go, Church, Go!”
by Andrew Zekveld
It is our privilege to respond to what we learned from God in a song of dedication to Him. Join us as we sing.
The benedictions from God in His Word to us are such fitting words to leave us with during these times. Today’s benediction comes from 2 Peter 1:2.
May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.2 Peter 1:2 (ESV)
God be with you all, till we meet again. Amen.
Grab a cup of tea or coffee, and then join us for fellowship on Google Meet from approximately 5 minutes after the service.
